Abstract: Science as a social institution is the main tool of man, helping formalize the problems threatening his livelihood and accumulate the knowledge that can be used to solve these problems and forecast global and local daily events in order to regulate individual and social behavior. The book on which this review is written presents an original vision of the philosophy of science through the prism of a detailed analysis of the polysystem construction of scientific theories. Theories are considered here, as semantic structures of developed scientific thinking about studied objects of the external world, as socially determined tools for the production of new knowledge confirming or refuting experimental research, and, finally, as information carriers of tested and ordered knowledge. The presented material is based on a large number of sources, represented by works of classic and modern researchers in the field of natural science and philosophy of science. The book can be useful for professional researchers concerned with problems of the modern philosophy of science, as well as for lecturers and students of higher educational institutions.
