Abstract: G.M. Dobrov’s legacy in the field of science policy and science history studies is described. Comparative analysis of distinctive features of Dobrov’s time in science policy and science history studies and post-Dobrov period coinciding with the formation of the national Ukrainian science system is made, with demonstrating that the dynamics of science development lays the background for the development of science policy and science history studies and specifies their performance criteria. Problems of science, science policy and science history studies in new Ukraine are discussed, ruining socio-economic effects from reforms of science system, being implemented in Ukraine, are highlighted. Brief thematic review of science policy and science history studies conducted by G.M. Dobrov Institute for Scientific and Technological Potential and Science History Studies of the NAS of Ukraine is made. Key tendencies in the development of global and national science systems are outlined. Recommendations on the Ukraine’s renaissance on science and innovation basis are given. The importance of reviving the cult of scientific ideology in the Ukrainian society is substantiated.
