Abstract: Statistical data and facts are given to demonstrate that the Russian aggression has caused great scales of material losses in the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine and the forced displacement of its staff, including trans-border one. Practical steps to support the Ukrainian science system, made by international and foreign research institutions and organizations, are oаutlined. It is stressed, that the NAS of Ukraine has already been fostering its own vision of high tech sectors in the domestic industry, power engineering and agriculture that could become attractive for foreign investment in the period of postwar economic recover of Ukraine, and respective proposals have already come from NAS institutes. It is emphasized that the further activities of the NAS of Ukraine will be based on the updated Guidelines for the Development of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Till 2025 and the principal objectives for the forthcoming period, formulated in June 2022 at the session of the General Meeting of the NAS of Ukraine. The priority tasks for the NAS of Ukraine in time of the martial law and the postwar recover are elaborated on. Special emphasis is made on the need to preserve and revive the research personnel of the domestic science system, with the detailed reference to the activities that are supposed to enhance the prestige of research profession, attract young people to research institutions and help revive the research capacity of Ukraine.
