The name of O.O. Sozinov is associated with new areas of modern general and molecular genetics, breeding, evolution of animals and plants; he actively worked on the problems of the agrosphere of the 21st century, conservation of biodiversity and the environment in the context of sustainable development. The article highlights the influence of scientists in the agricultural field — Y.Y. Verbin, P.H. Harkavyi, V.F. Kyrychenko, O.S. Musiyko, A.S. Sapiehin and M.P. Dubinin — on the professional formation of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Academician O.O. Sozinov (1930—2018). The research methodology is based on historical and general scientific methods, including systematization and the biographical method. The biography of O.O. Sozinov shows the influence of the abovementioned scientists on turning a student into a researcher and later into a colleague who became a world-renowned scientist despite the circumstances. The main periods in the formation of O.O. Sozinov’s scientific outlook (obtaining professional diploma at Odesa Agricultural Institute (1957—1962); working in industry, preparation and defense of the research thesis (1962—1974)), as well as the priority areas of his research were outlined. O.O. Sozinov’s connections with the abovementioned scientists, allowing him to expand research contacts and communications with them, are highlighted. The influence of Y.Y. Verbin, P.H. Harkavyi, V.F. Kyrychenko, O.S. Musiyko, A.S. Sapiehin, M.P. Dubinin on the formation of personality, professional development and career growth of O.O. Sozinov were demonstrated.
